# Release and Sharing

Prepare controlled releases and manage approved sharing arrangements.

Use these guides to release intelligence products and manage sharing decisions.

Use this menu group after the exact product revision is ready for review. Check the product content, audience, handling, authority, and recipient before you approve or send anything. Each step retains a separate decision.

| Menu item | First action | What it does |
| ------------------------- | ----------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Reviewed derivatives** | **Prepare derivative** | Prepare a new, reviewed version for a defined sharing use. The original product stays as it was. |
| **Releases** | **Draft a release** | Start the review and approval of an exact product revision. The page heading is **Controlled releases**. |
| **UK sharing agreements** | **Propose sharing agreement** | State the UK sharing basis, parties, and controls for review. |
| **UK recipient packages** | **Prepare UK package** | Prepare approved content for an exact UK recipient and purpose. |
| **Received UK packages** | **Search received packages** | Find a package sent to your account. Open it to inspect its content and notices. |

The [release task guide](/workflow-guides/products/release.md) explains the internal review, approval, and publication steps. Use [UK sharing](/menu-areas/release-and-sharing/uk-sharing.md), [reviewed derivatives](/workflow-guides/products/reviewed-derivatives.md), [recipient packages](/workflow-guides/products/domestic-packages.md), and [receiving a package](/workflow-guides/products/domestic-delivery.md) for the UK path.

## Follow the release path

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Inspect the exact product revision

Open **Intelligence cycle → Products** and inspect the exact product revision. Confirm that its cited evidence and independent review are current.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Prepare a reviewed derivative if needed

If a new sharing version is needed, open **Release & sharing → Reviewed derivatives**. Select **Prepare derivative** and complete its review.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check the UK sharing agreement

For a UK transfer, open **UK sharing agreements** and check the approved agreement that applies to the exact use.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Draft and approve the release

Open **Releases** and select **Draft a release**. Record the audience and required controls. Complete its separate review and approval.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Prepare the UK recipient package

If the recipient needs a UK package, open **UK recipient packages** and select **Prepare UK package**. Check the exact recipient, content, agreement, and notice.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Confirm receipt and record feedback

Ask the recipient to use **Received UK packages** to inspect the package and take the available receipt action. Then use **Intelligence cycle → Feedback** for the response and follow-on decision.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
A product draft, exported file, derivative, package preparation, delivery notice, acknowledgement, and feedback are different records. Check the status of the exact record at each step. Do not infer approval or receipt from a download or an opened page.
